Artist and oeuvre: Fred Thieler was an influencial German proponent of Abstract Expressionism/Informel. In 1949, Thieler was a founding member of the legendary artist's collective ZEN 49 (together with Baumeister, Geiger, Sonderborg and Fritz Winter). Fred Thieler participated in Documenta exhibitions in 1959 and 1964
