Condition: Traces of handling. One tear (approx. 1 cm) at the right sheet margin, professionally mended on the reverse with acid free, buffered filmoplast archive tape. In the lower part slightly stained due to water spotting.
Artist and oeuvre: Fred Dolbin is among the most renowned press artists and illustrators of the 20th century. Because of his Jewish origins, Dolbin was prohibited to work in 1935 and emigrated to the United States. In New York, he continued to work as a press illustrator for American and, after the end of world war II, also for German newspapers.
